With over 13 years of experience in the industry, Dominic Urry is the Technical Director at MedTec Design Services. He specialises in mechanical design, project management and delivering complete turnkey engineering solutions.
A Foundation in Practical Engineering
Dom began his career with a strong focus on motorsport and automotive engineering. His early work included a rear wing design project that earned him entry into the European SET Awards where he utilised computational fluid dynamics and wind tunnel testing to validate his concepts.
He later expanded his expertise at John Dennis Coachbuilders where he worked on specialist vehicles including fire engine development programmes and the structural design for the SnoozeBox portable hotel system. This role cemented his skills in structural analysis and manufacturing support.
Moving into the aviation sector with Aljac Fuelling Components, Dom took on wide-ranging responsibilities from product design to quality assurance. A major highlight of his career was leading the redesign of the company’s flagship product. This modernisation improved performance, transformed the product presentation and drove a significant increase in customer demand that exceeded production expectations.

He is highly proficient in mechanical design and Design for Additive Manufacturing using software such as Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks and Fusion 360. However, his engineering philosophy goes beyond the screen. Dom believes that great engineering is about understanding the core problem, bringing together the right experts and delivering practical solutions that reduce delivery risk.
